Carbon Saving Tips

Green electricity

Did you know that a half of the electricity in the United States is produced through the burning of coal in power stations? Burning coal produces two times more carbon dioxide than gas. In contrast, Green electricity from renewable sources produces (virtually) zero carbon dioxide.

Reduce . Reuse . Renew

More than half of your trash can be recycled. While the U.S. leads the industrial world in the generation of waste – about 4.5 pounds per person per day – we are also leaders in recycling, using it to keep about a quarter of our waste out of landfills.  Recycling materials can help to reduce carbon emissions by avoiding the need to extract and refine new raw materials. Recycling organic materials such as paper and cardboard can avoid emissions of methane (a powerful greenhouse gas) from landfill sites.

Reduce the number of plastic bags going to landfills by re-using old plastic bags or remembering to take a canvas bag with you when you go shopping.

Benefits of Reusable Bags:

Each year Residents of planet earth consume nearly 1 trillion Plastic bags = 1 Million per minute.
As of today there is no known  life cycle for plastic.
Millions of trees are felled to feed our consumption of paper bags.
